Construction

Every GO Team has individuals who serve in the area of construction. This team always works in partnership with the local community on a pre-selected project.

GO Teams have built or renovated nurse’s housing in Sitsatsawani, Endzingeni, and in Shewula. We have renovated the Bhalekane clinic and put a new roof and plaster on the walls in the Ndubazi Church of the Nazarene. We have put a new roof on the pastor’s home in Sitsatsawani and applied a lot of new paint on churches, clinics and schools. Greg White, a talented artist from Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, provided two murals for schools in Nhlangano and Ndubazi.

Construction teams normally spends most of their time in one community and have the opportunity of not only working on a building but also developing strong and memorable friendships with the people in the community.

Selection of the project –

Bethany First Church of the Nazarene (BFC) works through the regional and district offices to locate a project that has the right community preparation and the blessing of the regional and district leaders.

Churches-

There is explosive growth in Swaziland for the Church of the Nazarene with congregations needing a place to worship. We always look for ways to partner with a congregation for needed renovation or the addition of a roof or floor to help their building projects.

Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital (RFM)-

The hospital was built in the 1920’s and their rural clinics were established in the 1930’s and 40’s. RFM and every clinic are in need of renovation.

Nurses’ Housing-

Many of the rural Nazarene clinics do not have adequate housing for nurses and their families. When nurses have to live in the clinic and separate from their families it makes it difficult to retain these rural health care workers.

Tool Inventory-

BFC has accumulated tools that we have purchased for teams to use. Future teams may be asked to carry in additional equipment needed for their job.

There is always plenty of construction work to do in Swaziland in partnership with the local people. Consider joining a future GO Team and helping in the area of construction. Contact Pat Burton at pburton@bethanynaz.org  for more information.
